China's NEV Production Surpasses 10 Million Units
TMTPOST — China’s new-energy vehicle industry has grown from the million-unit level to more than 10 million units during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, a Ministry of Industry and Information Technology official said Wednesday.
Annual sales rose from 1.367 million vehicles to 16.49 million, lifting the share of NEVs in total new-car sales from 5.4 percent to 47.9 percent. Production of NEVs, power batteries and key materials now accounts for more than 70 percent of the global total, and vehicles are exported to more than 100 countries and regions.
Speaking at a State Council Information Office briefing on the 15th Five-Year Plan, MIIT Vice Minister Xin Guobin said the ministry has drafted an Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan. Authorities will step up efforts to improve product quality and autonomous-driving safety, advance related pilot programs and support high-quality industry development.
