Individual Investors’ China ETF Holdings Rise to 43% in First Half
TMTPOST — Individual investors in China increased their share of exchange-traded fund holdings to 43.01 percent by the end of June, up from 33.07 percent at the end of 2025, according to Choice data compiled from fund interim reports.
Retail holdings of ETF units rose to 1.25 trillion from 1.08 trillion over the six months. For equity ETFs specifically, the individual proportion climbed to 43.61 percent from 32.59 percent.
Industry and theme ETFs attracted particularly strong retail interest, with some products seeing individual ownership exceed 90 percent. The shift indicates broader participation by individual investors in China’s ETF market during the first half of the year.
