Chinese Biopharmaceutical Firms Flock to Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Favoring Dual Listing
TMTPOST -- A total of 17 Chinese mainland-based biopharmaceutical companies have gone public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, accounting for 16.19% of the total 105 new listings during this period. They raised HKD 18.501 billion in total, according to media reports. Additionally, 110 biopharmaceutical companies have submitted applications to the Hong Kong exchange this year, covering sectors such as oncology, CGT (cell and gene therapy), nuclear medicine, ophthalmology, and medical devices. The current IPO craze show two major trends. First, several Chinese mainland-listed pharmaceutical companies are seeking a second listing in Hong Kong; second, many companies are repeatedly submitting applications, with some even making four attempts to list on the Hong Kong capital market, indicating a high rate of repeat submissions.
