TMTPOST -- Beijng-based Xiaomi Auto has signed a memorandum of cooperation with eight leading car dealerships in Germany in an effort to expand into Europe. The announcement was made during IFA 2026.  From the early years of its foray into the automotive industry, Xiaomi has planned its expansion into Europe. Xiaomi's automotive venture possesses unique advantages for overseas expansion, with a brand focus on an integrated ecosystem of people, vehicles, and homes. Xiaomi smartphones have already established a presence in Europe, allowing the automotive offline channels to leverage existing flagship store networks. Xiaomi has laid the groundwork for related operations in Europe by setting up a research and development center in Munich and hiring former Tesla executives responsible for Central Europe to build a vehicle delivery and logistics system. Additionally, Xiaomi Auto has commenced road testing in Europe, with multiple preparatory activities being implemented simultaneously.
